Window Hanging

Recently I have been working on a bespoke window hanging for an Architect based in Waltham Forest. Our main source of inspiration was the Warner Estate, an area of Victorian housing that is unique to this London Borough.

The red brick walls and brightly painted doors typical of the Warner buildings helped us choose the accents of colour that would be woven through the window piece. Some remnant materials that we picked for the weaving included ribbons of turquoise sari silk and a length of orange twisted cord found at Sunbury antique market. The main body of the weaving is neutral canvas of cotton and linen that allows the light to shine through.

Found out more about commissioning a piece here.
